BLOOM was selected via RFP to create a new 36,000 sf clubhouse in Great Brook Valley, a neighborhood within a federal housing development described by the client as a "child development desert."
BLOOM arrived with extensive BGC experience from past projects in Lynn, Haverhill and Watertown, and when we encountered both the site and the project mission, we were immediately inspired, knowing this would be a great process and project.
The new club will serve 500 kids and teens per day from the immediate surrounds, feed the children and familes from a new commercial kitchen, teach nutrition and cooking in a teaching kitchen, provide the community with a clothing pantry and food pantry, in addition to Teen Center, Wellness Center, swimming pool, gymnasium, STEAM space, podcasting, music, homework help, ESL, resume workshop, drivers ed, and many other programs.

BLOOM conducted three evening stakeholder workshops with the kids, staff and families, providing interactive games to spark conversation and discuss community values the building will embody.

Working with the client groups, leadership, stakeholders, we helped develop a robust program, making use of efficient space planning strategies such as flexible multifunction spaces, open office hoteling, and overlapping sports programming.
