We're on a roll with our third residential project on the same street in Marblehead, MA! While our prior two projects here were ground-up modern homes, this time BLOOM was hired to study how to improve a highly idiosyncratic modern waterfront home. As you can see below, the existing house presents challenges in terms of form and structure, with steep 2-story mansard-like walls in a symmetrical configuration, resulting in a windowless pyramidal form. The direct proximity to the shoreline is under-leveraged with the exception of a front deck.

BLOOM's design proposes cutting new slots into the main body of this roof-house, creating room-height dormers as well as a tower element that will drastically improve views and daylight, while also creating new usable alcoves to expand some of the more cramped areas of the house.
