Winchester Modern

We are busy modernizing this hip-roofed ranch on a sloped site in Winchester, MA. The steep topography creates a two-story rear facade which was not leveraged in the original design. In addition to the functional aspects of the project (new kitchen, BBQ deck, dining and living rooms, home office, powder room..) BLOOM's design aims to elevate the lower level from secondary space to a main living space, with a room-sized glass wall to the backyard, landscape and entertaining patio. This, combined with removing most first floor walls and cutting an oversized opening for a new open-riser stair, will create an expansive and flowing bi-level great room, bridging front and rear landscapes. The public spaces will be connected and modernized with contemporary European finishes and fixtures.⠀
